Measure FF: Ensure Hotel & Motel Visitors Contribute Their Fair Share to Support Community Infrastructure and Essential Services

Measure FF helps maintain Santa Rosa as a vibrant destination for both visitors and residents, without increasing taxes on residents.

This measure applies to guests staying in hotels and motels in Santa Rosa by increasing the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) tax rate from 9% to 11%, aligning it with other cities in Sonoma County. The current rate hasn't been adjusted in 31 years, and this change ensures that visitors contribute fairly to the upkeep of the community they enjoy. The ballot question that will appear before Santa Rosa voters this fall asks:

To maintain locally controlled funding for services, such as keeping city parks clean safe/well maintained, repairing potholes and maintaining streets, enhancing senior/youth programs, and for general government use, shall City of Santa Rosa’s measure be adopted increasing the existing transient occupancy tax charged to hotel, motel and lodging guests by 2%, until ended by voters, providing $1,200,000 annually and all funds staying local?

How Measure FF Benefits Santa Rosa:

  • A Tax Locals Don’t Pay For. Funds from Measure FF are sourced from guests staying at hotels, motels, and vacation rentals in Santa Rosa city limits – creating a funding source of approximately $1.2 million each year to fund essential city services.

  • Repairs and Maintains Streets. Funds from Measure FF could be used to fix potholes and maintain Santa Rosa's 512 miles of local streets.

  • Supports Parks and Public Safety. Measure FF provides additional funds to help keep our city parks clean, safe, and well-maintained, while supporting essential public safety and other community services.

By voting Yes on Measure FF, hotel, motel, and vacation rental guests will pay their fair share for the community services they use, reducing the financial burden on homeowners and residents. It’s a fair way to fund essential city services while supporting local tourism.

Vote Yes on Measure FF to keep Santa Rosa safe, and beautiful—without increasing taxes for residents.
